Cathedral by Raymond Carver is a short storey of a blind mans visit. There ar three characters, the fibber, his wife, and the blind man Robert. Ten years ago, the narrators wife took a job in Seattle variation to Robert over the course of a summer. When her job ended, she and Robert decided to layover in touch via tapes. I am not sure as shooting if these are video tapes or just audio. I am going to guess the tapes are just audio because this was compose in 1982, and I dont know what engine room they had in homes rearward then. Also, I assume audio because Robert is blind, so a video would commit no effect on him over just hearing the sound.
When Robert is greeted to the house it seems to me like they neer leave the living room until their meal, and it is unclear that they may have eaten in the living room also. One thing that truly confuses me is why the strawberry pie is so significant. It seems to me when reading and replying to the discussion round Cathedral a lot were about the strawberry pie. It was mentioned in one case or twice the entire course of the story and I dont see the significance.
Later in the even Robert is left unaccompanied with the arrogant narrator.
His wife goes upstairs to deepen into a robe for which seemed like an hour, Im reckon because they were smoking dope, causing the effects of time to slow down. When she comes back down after Robert and her husband have been left alone watching the news, she simply falls asleep on the couch. The television receiver pans over some European cathedrals, interesting Robert. This starts a fond regard between the blind man and the sarcastic narrator (who never was excited for Roberts visit in the first place.)
Robert suggests that the narrator goes to establish a pen and some four-ply paper.
