Modern tragedy stories always include a sad hero. The hero moves from happiness or an average life look to a frightful situation or misery done an error or because of their hamartia. The book metropolis of Thieves written by David Benioff can be proven an excellent example of a modern tragedy. It can be made clear that City of Thieves is a modern tragedy as Lyova, a Russian teenager is led to disaster . Due to his hamartia he is a victim of society, and he experiences catharsis. Lyova falls into tragedy very early in his story, he then starts to sink farther into tragedy to the point it seems hopeless for him to recover.
Lyova is often led into bad situations due to his character flaw. Lyova often gets into trouble or lets community down just because he does not always cogitate virtually his future actions. It is clear Lyova does not always take before he acts considering he did not think about the consequences before he got caught away from his detail, out past curfew, and looting.
