Life after World War two was horrendous for African Americans. This was a time in history where African Americans did non have the same constitutional rights that normal Americans did. racism was at its peak so that African Americans were not allowed to do many things such as, sit in the front of the bus, take and receive a good education. In A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry the Youngers have lost the patriarch of their family and get a check of ten thousand dollars from the life indemnification money. Using that money they hope of moving to a dramaturgy in Clybourne Park, a white neighborhood. In the story the Youngers were approached by a man named Karl Linder who offers the Youngers money to convince them not to attain to Clybourne Park. I found this circumstance particularly interesting because I was surprised that someone would go so far as to bribe people to not move to their area because of their scrape up color. This made me wonder how I would react to this kind of situation if it were to happen today.

My ethnicity is Indian and if this atmosphere existed today I would not be able to live where I live now. This appealed to me I will never be able to experience the hardships that Youngers buttockd. The particular is that many African Americans were treated very badly if they move to white neighborhoods. Many were beaten, bullied, some even killed. Being an African American in the post World War Two era was extremely difficult but many had face and adapt as the Youngers did.
